Most people don't stick to a New Year's resolution but Jay Wornick from Fulton, New York did and he's now half the man he used to be and proud of it.

Challenged by wife Angela in a race to see who could lose the most weight - with the loser getting the victor's named tattooed on their body – Jay dedicated the last ten months of his life to a simple diet and exercise regime that saw him drop from 366 pounds to around 168 in less than a year.

Re-telling the story of how he reduced his weight so dramatically to the Post-Standard of Syracuse, Mr Wornick said that his aim was to drastically reduce his calorie intake which stood at around 7000-8000 calories a day.

He told the publication that his diet also changed from fat-packed snacks and litres of sugary soda to one of "high-fibre foods, fruits and vegetables, lean meats and water instead."

A change of menu was complimented with a rigorous six day fitness schedule that saw him splitting his time in the gym between bursts of cardio and weight training sessions.

His proud wife is due for a tattoo any time soon.ADNFCR-858-ID-800946399-ADNFCR
