Almost a quarter of children aged under ten in the UK have admitted to dieting, according to new research.

A survey commissioned for ITV programme Dying To Be Thin: Tonight and obtained by the Daily Mail has revealed that 28 per cent of young Brits have been bullied because of their weight, while 26 per cent have skipped a meal in a bid to shed some pounds.

Around two-in- five under tens have admitted to worrying about their weight, with just under a quarter dieting over the past 12 months.
Furthermore, two thirds of respondents admit to weighing themselves, with 37 per cent doing so regularly.

Lucie Russell, director of campaigns, policy and participation at YoungMinds charity, claimed that it is vital to ensure that these statistics are not dismissed.

She told the news provider: "Children feeling insecure about their bodies need to be helped to feel positive about who they are and what they look like.

"Much more needs to be done both at school and at home to offer children positive role models of all shapes and sizes."ADNFCR-858-ID-801256408-ADNFCR
