Before joining our online service, Douglas had never tried dieting before. However, there was a particular turning point that induced the change in his eating habits.

“After a very busy and social year as captain of my golf club I was feeling lumpy and my trousers were a bit tight around the waist. I decided that I needed to do something and I had received an e-mail about the dieting service. I liked the look of the Gi diet and set about starting it.”

“Portion distortion” is a buzzword that we hear about in the media. This means that the portion size of our foods may be larger than we actually need leading to unwanted weight gain. Douglas believes that it was this phenomenon that led to weight gain rather than the nutritional content of his dietary choices.

“My previous diet was healthy, with plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, red and white meat. I think I probably ate too liberally even though the contents were healthy.”

"I recently was able to wear a kilt that was made for me 54 years ago-yes, 54"

Douglas lost almost two stone on the Gi plan going from 13st to 11st 1lb. Amazingly, his waist measurement decreased by four inches enabling him to do something very special...

“I recently was able to wear a kilt that was made for me 54 years ago-yes, 54!”

Douglas felt inspired by the delicious dishes offered by our service. “I have enjoyed it so much that I now prefer the dishes on the meal plans to what I used to eat, the meal plans and the recipes are very helpful indeed, and are an inspiration to keep going. The shopping lists have been very useful too.”

The tempting meals have made life easier for Douglas and his body actually craves the meals that are in the Gi diet plan. This will make it much easier to keep those extra pounds at bay.

“I like the Gi dishes so much that I don’t see myself going back to refined carbohydrates and fatty food. I like the high fibre and low fat items, and have become so used to them after nearly a year that I don’t long for the old days at all. My metabolism has become accustomed to the new regime to such an extent that I rarely feel the need to snack in between meals”

Douglas has taken a very practical and positive attitude to his weight loss.

“First of all I am proud of my achievement, and am equally proud of having persevered-the discipline of dieting is very easy to give up. I do feel healthier and more confident, but I am well past the age when showing off my figure would do me any good!”

This is not the first time that Douglas has been successful in eradicating an unhealthy lifestyle choice. “I can only say that like any new discipline one has to be strong-minded and determined about sticking with it, and there is a point that comes when it is no longer difficult-a bit like giving up smoking, for example (which I did 41 years ago with some difficulty).”

Douglas’ positive mental attitude about changing unsavoury habits should motivate us all to do the same! However, he has remained realistic in his approach.

“Now I don’t eat sausages and mash or toad in the hole, and fried breakfasts pass my lips only as a special treat. Life still has to be lived and enjoyed, after all!”

Well done Douglas!
