The fact that the doctor said I needed to lower my cholesterol and lose weight spurred me on. I work full time so it’s not always convenient to go to a group or class in the evenings, being able to do everything online was a major reason for joining the programme.
After a trip to the doctors surgery Jane was left in no doubt that her weight was ruining her health. As soon as she was made aware that her health was in jeopardy she felt a sense of urgency to find a diet that could get it back on track.
The Cholesterol Lowering plan was the perfect fit for Jane, it was simple to follow and tailored towards her coronary problems, a welcome side effect was the promise of weight loss.

Jane lost 1 stone 8 lbs and her dress size dropped from size 18 to a size 12/14.
Losing weight has helped Jane to feel attractive again and her health has improved. “I have much more energy and my self confidence has been boosted. I have never been the most enthusiastic clothes shopper because bigger sizes tend to look old fashioned and frumpy. It’s lovely to fit into a size 14 now.”
A combination of 1) exercise, 2) healthy eating and 3) weight loss can all help to reduce cholesterol levels and Jane certainly covered all three in an effort to reduce her cholesterol levels.
“I decided to start walking to work rather than using the car. This has helped a lot with general fitness and feeling better about myself.”
Following the meal plans has made a huge difference to Jane’s dietary habits. She describes the ways her diet has improved. “I knew the basics of a healthy diet before but I had slipped into using ready made meals for convenience and snacking on chocolate in the evenings. Now the snacks have been replaced by the healthier versions allowed on the meal plans. I love the quick and easy recipes, it’s great being able to set them out in advance.”
The meal plans have served to unite Jane’s entire family in a bid to get healthy. “My husband has been very supportive and he enjoyed eating the same meals as me, but with extra rice or pasta. He has also managed to lose weight since I joined the diet.”
Jane offers some cost cutting tips for anyone that is following a meal plan. “I found it useful to buy packs of minced beef or chicken breasts in bulk and freeze them so that when you come to make a recipe you have the correct amount measured out. This saves money because you can buy larger packs or huge multi-packs when they are on special offer.”
And finally how confident is Jane that she can maintain her new weight?
“I have developed good habits over the past few months. I am determined not to go back to my old ways and put on weight again.”
