Hannah tried many diets over the years, but never stuck to them. She only registered with Tesco Diets because she wanted to support her friend who was following the plans. Hannah's expectations were quickly exceeded and she ended up losing 4 stone 9 lbs and dropped a fantastic 4 dress sizes. Now a year on she is amazed and thrilled by her results.
Hannah talks to us about positive changes...
What motivated you to join Tesco Diets?
I’d made several attempts to lose weight over the years, but didn’t do well under my own instruction. I originally signed up with a friend, but I honestly thought I’d give up after a couple of weeks.
Tell us about your diet before and after joining?
Being a vegetarian, I’ve always eaten lots of vegetables, however I rarely had fruit and I had no idea about portions. I snacked a lot when I was bored and never went for the healthy snacks. Cheese was my biggest downfall, I’d often have some as a snack and a bowl of pasta for lunch or dinner. I love food and couldn’t have cut things out completely, however Tesco Diets allows me to have the things I like. It doesn't feel like a diet.
Has exercise helped you to lose weight?
I generally walk everywhere as I live quite centrally. But, I also started doing aerobics and following the NHS couch to 5k podcasts. I ran the Race for Life too. Now there’s less of me to carry along and I’m getting better at it. I’m actually enjoying the early morning runs.
Has losing weight made a difference to you?
Losing weight has been a positive experience. I thought I’d end up giving up after a couple of weeks, so it’s amazing to find myself here now. I am more confident, generally feel better in myself and healthier.
How have your family and friends reacted to your loss?
It’s lovely when people compliment me on how well I look. It can sometimes be hard to recognise how you’ve done when you look at yourself in the mirror every day so it’s good to hear it from other people.
Is there any aspect you are particularly proud of?
I certainly feel more confident than I did before. I’ve never been a shy person, but I would often worry what people thought of how I looked. I love shopping and I buy clothes now that I would never have considered before. I live in skinny jeans at the weekend and have even started wearing skirts. Eating healthily comes pretty naturally now.
How do you view yourself?
Of course no one is ever 100% happy with themselves – I’m still holding out for a flat stomach, but hopefully I’ll get a bit closer with a few runs.
What is your 1 tip for new members?
Don’t ban anything. Of course there are certain foods you will naturally eat less of, but banning something just makes you think more about it. Have a bit of the things you love, just make sure it’s in moderation.
