Most women are well aware that pregnancy takes a toll on their figures, for Lucy this was compounded by the fact that two of her pregnancies happened in quick succession. Lucy was constantly on the go, looking after her 3 young children so she had neither the time or inclination to put much thought into preparing healthy recipes. Tired of blaming her physical fitness and appearance on circumstances Lucy decided to join the Gi plan. In just 3 months she lost an amazing 3 stone 4 lbs.
Here she tells us about the diet plan…
Have you previously tried any other diets?
I joined slimming clubs twice but got bored of them pretty quickly.
What made you decide to join us?
I was pregnant on my 30th and 31st birthday (and fat). I didn’t want to look pregnant on my 32nd birthday.
Was your weight causing you any problems?
I was falling asleep after lunch every day and kept blaming my tiredness on the kids. In actual fact my diet and weight were leaving me feeling lethargic and lacking energy. Clothes wise I just hated buying bigger sizes so lived in cast offs from my mums friend who was twice my age.
Tell us about your diet before you joined us, and how has it changed as a result?
I used to gorge on toast all morning, first at home then at mums and toddlers. I snacked on cereal bars and noodles, yoghurts, basically anything quick. For dinner I ate curries, spaghetti bolognese, pies and when the kids were in bed I would eat biscuits and chocolate.
What difference has losing weight made to you?
My energy levels are higher, I never get tired, I am wearing clothes I like, I feel better about myself and have taken pride in my appearance.
Has exercise played a role in your weight loss?
I am walking everywhere now, I go swimming at least twice per week and this has made a big difference.
Have you any advice for other dieters?
Look for patterns to your overeating, for me it was poor planning leading to grabbing sweet foods, stress and boredom. Join a circle of friends and you will be able to boost each other when motivation is lacking.
