Betty really wanted to lose weight, but every time she tried she gave up after the first day. After gall bladder surgery, she knew the time had come to change her life for once and for all.

Betty talks to us about her weight loss journey…

Was your weight causing you any problems?

I was getting embarrassed that size 16 jeans were getting tight and I even resorted to size 18 tops. On holiday in the hot weather my legs were rubbing together and that was really uncomfortable.

What made you decide to try the Gi plan?

I’d known for several years that I really needed to lose weight, but could never stick to a diet. After having an operation to remove my gallbladder, and then getting a kidney stone, I knew something had to change.

How was your diet before joining Tesco Diets?

My intentions were always good. Breakfast and lunch weren’t much different from the plan, but I couldn’t walk past the biscuits. Our main meals in the evenings were fine, but my downfalls were chips, alcohol and take-aways. Also, snacking on chocolate and nuts in the evenings was a bad habit.

I feel much fitter. Getting into size 10 jeans is a confidence booster.

Did you lose inches?

Yes, overall l lost 32 inches including 10 inches from my waist.

Have you found following a plan difficult?

I love the Gi plan. I’ve tried lots of new recipes, and some have even become family favourites. There is lots of food and plenty of choice. The Community Forums are fantastic, some made me laugh, while others have been very inspirational.

What difference has losing weight made to your life?

I feel much fitter. Getting into size 10 jeans is such a confidence booster.
