Gwawr shares her story with us...Gwawr tells us about the positive changes losing weight has made to her.
What weight and BMI were you when you joined and what weight and BMI are you now?
When I started my plan I was 15 stone 1lb and my BMI was 32. I'm now down to 11 stone 6lbs, and I have a BMI of 24.
Have you lost any inches?
Since joining, I have lost 6.5 inches around my waist, 7 inches from my hips and chest, 1.5 inches around my biceps and thighs and 2 inches around my calves.
How has your life changed for the better since you have lost the weight?
I feel much more confident when it comes to shopping, going out with friends and eating in public. I used to wear size 18 trousers, yet now even my size 12 work trousers are falling down, so I need to go shopping again. I no longer feel like a frump when we go out and I can dance all night without my feet getting sore due to my weight. I am also much fitter. There is a lane from work to my current home that is uphill. It’s no longer than 100m, but I used to be out of breath walking up it, whereas now I sprint up it and don't even break a sweat. I'm also finding that a 1/2 mile swim is nothing in our pool, whereas before, I would be exhausted after 10 lengths.
What steps have you taken to achieve this positive change?
I've made sure that I stick to my plan each day. I started eating much more fruit and vegetables. I don't believe that depriving yourself is the best thing either, so I still go out and drink more than I should, and if I want chocolate then I have a little bit, but it’s all in moderation. I don't go out every weekend any more and I stick to slimmer drinks.
Is there something you love doing that has taken a major role in this change?
I had started doing a lot of swimming which I love doing and the easier I found it, the more I did.
Any other information you would like to give?
I've found the support team have been wonderful everytime I've needed them. I've had a couple of blips where I just seemed to reach a plateau and all it took was for me to contact the team and ask for help, and with a few simple questions I’d start losing again. Great helpful staff who never made me feel stupid. Thanks guys.
