2 stone 5 lbs off - Rod reaches his target!

Kellie Collins

With a starting weight of 14 st 5 lbs and standing tall at 6’ 2”, Rod’s BMI was 26 – just into the overweight for height category. So his weight wasn’t likely to cause him too many problems – yet. But at 58 years of age, Rod was feeling uncomfortable and unhappy. Medication to treat depression had caused him to gain weight over the last few years, which is probably familiar to some people out there. So Rod decided it was time to do something about the extra weight he was carrying around.

An online shopping trip lead him to our site one day, and the rest, as the man himself says, is history! 2 st 5 lbs lighter and a new, improved BMI of 22, Rod has dramatically changed his eating habits and will never look back.

"I have kept round the same mark for almost a year now ... and has become a way of living now, not a diet. I actually eat more now than I did before and I have lost weight – that must be good!."

“Before registering for the programme, I was feeling uncomfortable, and my clothes sizes were rising. I had been ill with depression and my medication had made me gain weight, so at 58 I decided I had better do something before a mid-life crisis set in! I had never dieted before. I always thought it was a female thing – how wrong can you be!”

Rod’s partner supported him throughout his weight loss journey and has even adopted Rod’s healthy new eating habits and become more health conscious.

As a result of his new healthy eating lifestyle, the contents of Rod’s kitchen cupboards have changed quite dramatically. “The larder and fridge are stocked differently now. They have never seen so many fruit and vegetables, and our whole routine is different. I make sure that I eat all my meals and not skip meals, even when I have a busy schedule.”

“Our diet used to revolve around ready made foods or quick pastas with sauces, and large portions. I never realised how big my portions were until I started the plan and became aware of the portions I should be having. My huge dinner plates used to be filled to brimming – now they are used to display the food to best effect. We never eat ready meals now – I make everything from scratch myself at home!”

These dietary changes have also changed Rod’s supermarket trips. “I really enjoy going to the supermarket now. I’m more particular about what I eat and I am cooking foods I had never dreamt of. The more exotic the recipe, the better! We love to try new fruit, veg and other ingredients.”

Rod’s success has given him a new lease of life – and a new job as a model! “I feel much more confident and can fit into my old clothes again – including some of those favourites that have been at the back of the wardrobe for years. I’ve even dome some part time modelling as a mature model!”

Rod is very confident that he can maintain his weight loss. “I have kept round the same mark for almost a year now, and I intend continuing with my new healthy lifestyle. It has become a way of living now, not a diet. I don’t miss ready meals or the food I used to eat. I actually eat more now than I did before and I have lost weight – that must be good!”
