A pound a week loser!
Overweight pilates instructor Christine felt she needed to lose some weight not only for good health but because she wasn’t looking like the professional, fitness worker that she really is. Our Total Wellbeing plan allowed her to achieve this and in 6 months she managed to lose nearly 2 stone and regain her self-esteem and professional confidence!
Here is Christine’s story……
What made you decide to join our online dieting site? When I went back to work after the Christmas holidays and started demonstrating exercises to my clients, I was bending over and looking down at an ever bulging stomach that was preventing me from moving as well as I used to. So I knew the weight had to go and I needed the support.
Have your family been supportive to you in your weight loss efforts? I live with my husband for whom I am a full time carer as he has Parkinson’s disease. He has supported me all the way and my grown up children are both incredibly impressed with how much my body shape has changed.
How much weight have you lost? I was 10 stone 12lbs and a size 14. Now I am 9 stone and can go into any shop and confidently pick up an armful of size 10s with the knowledge that they will all slip on easily. My old skirts are now at least 2 inches longer as they rest down on my hips now instead of cutting me in half around my waist like they used to.
What part has exercise played in helping you to lose weight? A major part! We saved to build a pool onto the back of our house, so that my husband could exercise in warm water in a weightless environment so I was able to get in to the pool and swim every day. It definitely helped me to shed the pounds without getting stuck on one of those awful plateaus. I stayed the same one week, but otherwise I seemed to be a 1lb a week loser.
What difference has losing weight made to you? When exercising I no longer have rolls of a spare tyre getting in my way, and I no longer feel ashamed to admit that I am a pilates instructor. I feel so much more feminine and I am starting to buy myself a new wardrobe of clothes that hug my figure.
Have you enjoyed your diet plan? The Total Wellbeing plan has been easy to follow and seems to suit my body with its higher protein content. It can be difficult to meet people being a carer so the best thing I have got out of the site, is the support and friendship from other fellow dieters on the support boards and the circles.
How do you feel about your weight loss? At 51 yrs of age I feel sexy and can wear hold ups without them rolling into a tight uncomfortable band that cuts into my thighs. I have been given a whole new lease of life, now that I like what I see in the mirror.
Do you feel confident about maintaining your weight loss? I love my new body, and don’t ever want to loose it again. So following the maintenance plan for the rest of the year should make this new me a permanent thing, not just a fleeting visit to the Promised Land. With the continued support of the boards I am REALLY confident that I can maintain this time!
Finally a few weight loss tips Christine would like to share...
• If like me you don’t like salad in cold weather, substitute it for vegetables.
• Make up large quantities of “free vegetable soup” and add it to your lunch if you feel hungry.
• Save some of your meal to have as a snack, that way you can always look forward to something to eat, and not succumb to the munchies
• Try any recipe at least once, if you don’t like it, swap it for something you do like next time it comes up on your plan. Variety is the spice of life after all.
• Make use of the support network. It will keep you sane, and pick you up if you fall.
