Alan's big achievement - 4 stone 4 lbs loss!
Alan used to be a member of the fad-diet club. Well, not literally, but he had tried most of them with initial success, but never long-term success. Our online Gi diet was the first diet plan he had stuck to for longer than a month. And the reason? Because he enjoyed it, and because he was losing weight!
Within just one month of registering with us, Alan had knocked almost a stone off his starting weight of just over 20 stone (127 kilos). Although we usually recommend a loss of 1 or 2 lbs per week, people with a lot of weight to drop the weight more quickly in the first couple of months. Almost exactly a year after joining us, Alan reached his target weight of 16 stone 2 lbs (103 kilos), having achieved a total weight loss of 4 stone 4 lbs (27 kilos).
Before registering for our online weight loss programme, Alan had been getting tired of the side effects of carrying so much extra weight around. “I’d really let myself go. None of my clothes fitted, I had no confidence and I just didn’t care how I looked. Deep down I knew I could lose the weight so I thought I’d give it one last try. It was now or never.”
Alan enjoyed trying new foods and recipes. He found the weekly recording of weight and measurements invaluable in keeping him motivated, as well as the response from our Customer Service team to his weekly weigh-in comments.
So, how have his family and friends reacted to Alan’s weight loss? “With wonder and praise mostly! It’s great to hear comments about how slim I am. They want me to help them now!”
Exercise played a major part in Alan’s success, and he still exercises regularly to maintain his weight and fitness levels. “It’s been really hard work, but I feel a lot fitter and I have loads more energy now. I can go to the gym and hold my own with anybody my age. I’ve been interested in martial arts all my life, and now I can practise, and even teach it."
“I feel a real sense of achievement as a result of my weight loss and improved fitness. I have toned up considerably with more muscle and less fat. I intend to lose some more weight, but although this will be at a slower rate now, I'm confident that I can do it.”
Overall, Alan has a very positive outlook on life as a result of his weight loss. “Every aspect of my routine changes daily now. Accepting and adapting to these changes is a fresh taste of life to me!”
