He lost 3 stone 1 lb and inches from all over his body.
Bryan tells us his story…
What made you decide to join our online diet plan?
My career as a police officer was coming to an end. As the chief inspector, I had a very sedate desk job. The most exercise I got was walking to the coffee machine or the canteen. Six months prior to my retirement I decided that I needed to do something about my weight and fitness, or I would be dead in my early sixties.
Tell us about your diet before you joined us?
I was a vegetarian before joining, but I ate whatever I wanted. My biggest downfall was red wine. I would drink a few glasses in the evening, then I would get an attack of the nibbles and start tucking into the cheese, crackers, crisps and nuts. Now I take more time over my food. I have found that success depends upon sticking to the plan.
Was your weight causing you any problems?
I am very tall, so I could carry extra weight without looking too large. But, looking back at the photos and trying on clothes that fitted me 18 months ago, I see just how out of shape I was.
What difference has losing weight made to you?
It has been life changing. I can’t believe how slim and fit I have become. When I retired from the police I had already lost 2 stones and was exercising 4 times per week. Upon retirement I took a ‘gap year’ and embarked on some fantastic adventures that wouldn’t have been possible before. I spent time white water rafting around the Nile; treking up a volcano in Rwanda and I even climbed a glacier in New Zealand.
What an unbelievable year.
Have you enjoyed the Vegetarian plan?
I like to keep things simple. I don’t want to be using calorie counters or working out my daily diet with a calculator. Therefore I loved the diet plans, which were easy to use. At a click of the mouse my shopping list was ready too.
How do you feel about your weight loss?
I feel like I’m 21 again. For years, I wanted a tattoo, but I knew I had to lose weight before I could get one. In New Zealand I had a very special Maori tattoo on my upper arm. I am so proud of it.
Have your family been supportive?
As my running has improved it has been great going running with my boys. My youngest wasn't so impressed when I beat him in a 10 km race last year.
Are you confident that you will maintain your weight loss?
Yes, this was not about a diet; it was about a complete lifestyle change.
Have you any other tips you would like to provide us with?
Never be afraid to re-invent yourself. No matter how old you are, being slimmer and fitter can lead to fantastic lifestyle changes.
