Claire loses weight for her heart health

Health problems motivated Claire to join the online diet plans. After undergoing heart surgery, Claire knew that her health care team had done what they could for her, but she also had to take charge of her own future and make changes for the better. Claire followed our online Gi diet plan and achieved a 2 stone loss.

Here she tells us how she did it…

What made you decide to join us?

I first used the service in 2005, and I really enjoyed it. I stopped due to a home move and slowly the weight crept back on. I had to undergo heart surgery, and following that, I decided to make a concerted effort to change my diet, loose weight, and keep my heart as healthy as possible.

Was your weight causing you any problems?

I definitely felt uncomfortable, and did struggle to find clothes to fit ladies with a bigger bust and tummy. After having the heart surgery, I felt that the doctors had done their best to make my heart work as efficiently as possible, and now it was my turn.

Tell us about your diet before you joined us?

I didn’t think it was terrible, but since being on the diet I eat much smaller portions. I also realise that my plate doesn’t have to be loaded. I eat far more fruit than I used to and I am pretty certain that I get my five-a-day now.

What difference has losing weight made to you?

I feel better in myself and have a great sense of achievement. I now wear clothes in a size 14, which I haven't managed since I got married. I feel like I have done my doctors proud, and my family are all very happy for me.

What part, if any, has exercise played in helping you to lose weight?

I walk to and from work everyday, and aside from the usual household chores, I take part in dancing classes once a week. It’s a great way to socialise too, as I’m not one for exercising in a gym.

What did you think of the online diet plans?

I love the fact that I can plan a weeks worth of meals , which stops me buying food I don’t need. The meals offered are very varied, and can be quick, convenient or even full blown recipes. I like being able to track my progress, and this has stopped me jumping on the scales every day.

Have you any other information you would like to give?

I like the fact I get a shopping list . I think this also helps as I can order my shopping online and avoid being tempted by things I don’t need or want. I love the service.
