Dean loses 8 ½ stone and changes his life!

Perhaps people believed they were being cruel to be kind when they made fun of Dean’s weight or maybe they got some sort of twisted kick out of preying on his insecurities. Whatever the underlying reasons for ridiculing him, the small-minded remarks reinforced Dean’s determination to lose weight and rebuild his self-confidence.

“I was getting a lot of criticism because of my weight, I know people were making fun of me and a previous relationship even failed for this reason. I was unable to do the things I enjoyed like mountain biking and hill walking. All in all the opinion I had of myself was really negative.”

Achieving an amazing 8 ½ stone loss and reducing his waist size by 10 inches is no mean feat but he made it look easy! With the help of the Gi plan Dean experienced a re-invention of his appearance and his life.

As a slimmer man Dean is revelling in his newly hectic lifestyle. He lists the differences that following the Gi plan and losing weight has made to him.

“Now I am as fit as I was in school and I go cycling regularly. I have got rid of my all my old clothes and bought lots of new ones.”

There is no doubting that he is healthier and more active than he ever thought possible. And with one candidly open statement Dean conveys just how happy he is now.

"It was great to have it all set out in front of me. All the guess work has been taken out. You have a weekly shopping list and you only need to eat the foods on it, how easy is that!"

“I feel like a much better person than I did before!”

Before joining the plan his diet consisted of calorie-laden, fatty, sugary and just plain ‘bad foods’. Dean admits he had no concept of what a healthy diet was. Calories, fat and portion size meant absolutely nothing to him.

Since joining the Gi plan, he has become vigilant about calories and where they are coming from. However Dean is anxious to confirm that he is in no way obsessed with his calorie intake. He has a healthy attitude and realises that as long as he eats a balance of foods the occasional treat or take away will not do his diet any harm.

“When I buy food now, the first thing I look at is the nutritional information on the packet. I’ve cut out lots of sugar and fat. Certainly I eat much healthier, but still allow myself a treat once a week.”

Dean found many aspects of the site particularly useful, from the meal plans to the weigh-in chart.

“It was great to have it all set out in front of me. All the guess work has been taken out. You have a weekly shopping list and you only need to eat the foods on it, how easy is that! The weekly weigh-in also helps. You weigh yourself once a week and see the progress in various charts, it really kept me on the straight and narrow.”

The biggest motivational boost that Dean received was from the reactions of people who had noticed how much weight he lost. He no longer needed to worry about quips and teasing comments.

“The feedback I got from colleagues has been very good. I’ve had a lot of staff and customers asking how I did it. Lots of people have noticed the difference in both my looks and personality.”

After trying many diets over the years Dean has finally found one that he can stick with for life. He knows the weight already lost is gone forever because there is no way he is going to risk the lifestyle and happiness he has found for the sake of crisps and chocolate.

“I have tried lots of diets over the years. I lost weight this time because it was the goal I most wanted to achieve. I don’t look at it as though I have been on a diet. I look back and think about how I have changed my life!”

Dean has some final words of encouragement for anyone who is struggling with their own weight problems.

“This has been the hardest thing I have ever done in my life but I can say with certainty that if I was able to lose 8 ½ stone in one year and keep it off anyone can!”
