Denise loses 4 stone 2 lbs with the Gi plan

Denise enjoyed keeping fit while living in South Africa in her twenties. She even competed in a marathon, which at aa distance of 26 miles, was no small feat. Once Denise had her children, she found she had less time for planned exercise, and the final nail was put in the coffin when she had to undergo a back operation. Years later and a few stone heavier, Denise was in her local Tesco where she saw a leaflet explaining how Tesco Diets works. This was exactly the right time for Denise, so there and then she decided to join the Tesco Diets Gi diet plan . Just 10 months later Denise had lost 4 stone 2 lbs and dropped from a size 22 to a size 14.

Here she tells us how she did it.

What made you decide to join us?
I picked up a flyer at the supermarket checkout. I decided there and then to lose weight and get back to road running again.

Was your weight causing you any problems?
Getting suitable clothes to exercise in was a problem, and looking like a “blob” on my bike. I wasn’t able to jog more than a few metres when I first started. My main motivation for loosing weight was to get fit and active. I used to road run in my 20’s and managed to compete one marathon, and numerous shorter runs. After having my children, I did a little running, but stopped completely after a back operation.

Tell us about your diet before you joined us, and how it has changed as a result?
I was fond of cake and chocolate, and had both on a daily basis. I’ve always eaten a lot of fruit and vegetables, but usually topped it off with a pudding. I haven’t had any craving for chocolate since I started my diet, and now have a small piece of cake at the weekend only. I use sugar-free jelly and plain yoghurt as a dessert.

Have you enjoyed the diet plans?
Yes I have enjoyed the Gi plan. I found the daily log of food very important and helpful in deciding how much and what to eat when I changed certain any aspect of the diet.

Has exercise played any part in helping you to lose weight?
I run, do pilates once a week and go to the gym.

How have your family and friends reacted to your weight loss?
The comments are wonderful and I always get great reactions from friends I haven’t seen for a while.

How do you feel about your weight loss?
I am very satisfied and proud of being back on the road and running again. This wouldn’t be possible if I was still fat. I’ve enjoyed buying smaller clothes.

Are you confident about maintaining your weight loss?
Yes, I feel very confident about maintaining my weight loss, particularly if I am going to log my weight each week, and be able to check food calorie values so easily online. I am enjoying running, cycling, pilates so much, it will keep me motivated to maintain a healthy weight.

Have you any other information you would like to give?
I have long term goals to run Comrades Marathon in South Africa one day. This is an 89km annual run and I would love to join my brothers and sister-in law who run it regularly. I have found the Gi plan extremely satisfying and although I am not very computer literate, managed to find my way around the pages easily. I did gain a few kilograms when I went on my annual holiday back to South Africa to see friends and family, and was amazed to get emails from the Tesco advisors asking if anything was wrong. Excellent service! I’m sure people wonder whether anyone bothers to check up on what has been entered in the weekly weigh in. The answer is, yes they certainly do!
