Emma defies the odds & loses 1 stone with Gi!

We regularly receive queries from people who can’t exercise or are immobile due to a medical condition. These people worry that they won’t be able to lose weight because of their inability to exercise and that’s exactly how Emma felt before she joined our programme. Emma has suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for a long time and believed that she wouldn’t be able to lose weight. But with the help of our calorie controlled Gi diet, Emma has successfully lost 1 stone and is still losing!

At 5'3" and with a starting weight of 10 stone 10 lbs, Emma was finding it more difficult to fit into her clothes and didn’t want to buy clothes in the next size up. She saw an advertisement on TV for our online weight loss programme, registered with us, and she’s now 1 stone lighter! Emma’s BMI has also jumped from 27, in the overweight category, to 24 in the ‘healthy weight for height’ category.

Emma explains how she had been feeling before she registered for our programme. “I was unhappy about my weight and had been for some years. I was gradually putting on weight and my clothes sizes were creeping up. A turning point was when my size 16 trousers were getting tight – I really didn’t want to buy a size 18! It had been bad enough moving from a size 14 to 16. I decided I didn’t want to be miserable about my weight anymore and I wanted to do something to lose weight.”

Previous attempts at dieting had been successful for Emma in the short-term, but she was never able to keep the weight off. “I would waver after a few weeks and would reward myself for any loss with a food treat! Crazy, I know!” Crazy perhaps Emma, but it probably sounds more than a little familiar to some of our readers!

Emma was surprised at how much she enjoyed following our plan! “I have surprised myself as to how committed I’ve been to following the plan, and how much I’ve enjoyed it. All aspects have been helpful – the meal plan and recipes are so easy to access. You don’t have to think about what to eat, which is especially good if you don’t have a lot of time or energy. I have been more adventurous with my cooking and I’m enjoying trying new foods.”

“The online support from other members and the Customer Service team was also invaluable. Being in contact with others who are going through the same thing is also motivating and interesting. The weekly weigh-in is also a great motivator! I am in contact with Nicola from the Customer Service team regularly and she’s been brilliant.”

As a result of her weight loss, Emma’s confidence has soared, and she’s had to buy herself a new wardrobe! “I’m more confident now and much happier with the way I look. I’ve bought lots of new clothes as my old ones were too big. I’ve really enjoyed shopping for the new clothes because I feel good in them.”

Emma is confident that she will be able to maintain her weight now. “I haven’t found it too difficult to lose the weight, and I’ve even allowed myself the odd treat. I have really enjoyed eating more healthily and this has become the norm for me now. I will definitely continue this because I never saw it as something I would only do until I reached my goal as the weight would only go back on. I’m determined to maintain my weight in the long-term now!”

To finish, Emma stresses that she really thought weight loss would not be possible for her due to her Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. “I can only do minimal exercise and I am sedentary a lot of the time. I want others in a similar position to take inspiration from my success – you CAN lose weight! It may take slightly longer but it’s certainly not impossible. Following this diet has put me back in control and because of that I’m more confident and very happy!”
