Gi success for Pam

“Mother knows best”, well in the case of Pam this was not quite true. She was resigned to the fact that she was overweight and had stopped trying to do something about her shape. But when her daughter paid a visit from Australia, 2 stone lighter than the last time she visited Pam was shocked into action. Her complacency was replaced with motivation and she knew this time failure was out of the question.

“I was shamed into dieting when my daughter visited from Australia, she looked fantastic!”

When Pam registered with the Gi plan she weighed 13 stone 3 lbs and wore a size 18-20. In just 8 months she lost almost 2 stone and coincidentally began to give her daughter some competition in the style stakes.

“Losing weight has given me more confidence in my appearance and although people said that I didn’t look my age before, I feel much younger now.”

The Gi plan has not only allowed Pam to regain her self confidence and quality of life; she describes some other benefits that have come as a result of her weight loss.

In addition to eating more healthily exercise has also played a starring role in Pam’s weight loss success. She has always been very active but having the added incentive of maintaining her weight loss has made her exercise routine even more enjoyable.

“I have been trying to do an average of 10,000 steps per day for a couple of years and I do a heart rehab keep fit class. I did belong to a gym for a year and went several times a week but found it was too time consuming and decided it was more realistic to have a sustainable form of exercise. I also switched from cycling to walking. Exercise is almost effortless; I am much more active now.”

Pam is under no delusion as to what it will take to maintain her weight loss.

“I need to remind myself how much better I feel and look and not be tempted to see food as a reward. I have had to be strict with myself and not allowed myself many treats.”
