Sharon succeeds with the Gi diet!

At the start of this year, Sharon’s 40th birthday was fast approaching, and she decided that she didn’t want to be fat and frumpy at 40. That was when she discovered our Gi diet! A few months later, Sharon has dropped 2 st 2 lbs and is still losing!

With a starting weight of 10 st 13 lbs, Sharon’s BMI was 28, meaning she was in the overweight category. Now weighing in at a trim 8 st 11 lbs, Sharon’s BMI has reduced to a much healthier 22, and she has never felt better.

"I had always tried to eat healthily, but the plan has re-educated me in portion sizes – I’ve realised that you just don’t need to eat loads to feel satisfied. The recipes on the plan are easy to follow and I have tried foods that I hadn’t eaten before."

So what attracted Sharon to our Gi diet in the first place? “It was easy to follow because it told you what to eat, and it suited my busy lifestyle.” With 4 children and a husband to look after, Sharon certainly is kept busy but her husband has supported her all the way. “My husband has encouraged me all the way on this journey. He’s been brilliant and is thrilled for me!”

Before starting the Gi diet, Sharon was suffering from constant backache. She also has an overactive thyroid, but this never deterred her weight loss efforts. The thought of her 40th birthday kept her motivated, and she was rewarded when it arrived! “I bought an outfit for my 40th and couldn’t believe it was me staring in the mirror, I just didn’t recognise myself. It was only then I realised just how much weight I’d lost and I was elated! My self confidence has rocketed since then. It’s a great feeling when you can shop for clothes and know you look and feel great in them.”

Sharon’s eating habits didn’t change too much as a result of following the plan, but she did learn some key lessons from it. “I had always tried to eat healthily, but the plan has re-educated me in portion sizes – I’ve realised that you just don’t need to eat loads to feel satisfied. The recipes on the plan are easy to follow and I have tried foods that I hadn’t eaten before. The shopping list is very useful because it saves so much time. Also, I now drink loads of water. The support boards kept me motivated whenever I felt a snack attack coming on. Ann, the moderator of the ‘Oops…Slipped Up’ group has been fantastic!”

Sharon is determined that she will keep the weight off. “I don’t ever want to feel fat and frumpy again! My friends can’t believe how much I’ve lost, how well I look and how much more energetic I am. I’ve not weighed this light since I met my husband and I love showing off my new figure. The plan has stopped the night-time snack scenario.”

It certainly wasn’t all plain sailing, but Sharon persevered, and is grateful to everyone who helped her along the way. “Some weeks I lost pounds, others nothing, but I never gained. I just stuck to the plan. Without all the support from your team and the support groups, I wonder if I would have achieved my loss so easily, so a big thank you goes to everyone who has helped me to achieve my goal, and followed my progression.”
